Attracting new competence was the common interest when about 30 life science companies, from start-ups to global companies, met this week at the AWL Café in Innomedicum on Campus Solna.
The room was filled to the brim with PhD Students, Postdocs, Early Career Researchers, and the employees from the presenting companies when this autumn’s KI internship mingle event got under way, elegantly arranged by KI’s Carrer Service.
Company pitches and a matchmaking session were on the agenda. Several speakers mentioned during there pitches that they themselves started their careers in the industry through an internship. And several of the companies participated for the second or third time.
Campus Solna-based Ebba Biotech and Sigrid Therapeutics, an alumni company from KI Innovations DRIVE incubator, participated and we had a quick chat with them:
How was the KI Career Service internship mingle?
– We are very positive about the program and think more companies should discover this opportunity to offer graduates industry experience. For our part, we have the experience that internships have led to employment, says Smilla Huzell, COO. Ebba Biotech is participating for the third time this fall.
– We see this program as an important channel for finding competence, says Jeanha Beak, Head of Preclinical Development at Sigrid Therapeutics. One of Sigrid Therapeutics senior researchers started as a trainee through the program. Jeanha herself has a background as a researcher at KI.
At KI Science Park we are happy to have contributed to this meeting as a co-organizer together with A Working Lab. Thank you Ana Osório Oliveira and Y. Vladimir Pabon-Martinez for a well-planned and executed event.
Next opportunity will be arranged in the spring. Feel fre to contact Ana and Vladimir to learn more about the indernship program and how your company can participate at future networking events.
