Magnus Björsne, Ph.D., MBA, is the Head of AZ BioVenture Innovation Unit (BIU) and CEO of AZ BioVentureHub at AstraZeneca AB. Based in Gothenburg, Magnus has a distinguished career in the pharmaceutical industry, with over 20 years of experience.
Magnus has held various managerial positions within Cardiovascular Research Management as well as positions within Strategic Planning & Business Development. Magnus implemented AZ BioVentureHub, a novel approach to open innovation that has received multiple international awards. This initiative allows biotech companies and academic groups to collaborate closely with AstraZeneca’s expertise and capabilities.

Bioventure Innovation Unit (BIU) is tasked with driving AstraZeneca’s strategy and work with the Nordic ecosystem. BIU is responsible for the activities within BioVentureHub, AstraZeneca’s Nordic Mentor Program and runs a number of projects at national level, all with the aim of further strengthening Swedish Life Science.
